Within the framework of this series, I grew through my 20s and my mom moved through her 50s. Over the course of a decade, my mother and I created Indoor Voices together, shaping the project around ideas of womanhood passed down through generations, responsibilities between mothers and daughters, and quiet intimacies. We worked through gestures and poses in spaces that belonged to us, creating environments that lived between imagination and documentation. Scenes unfolded in the rooms we dwelled in, as we responded to the lives we carried outside the frame. These moments let us explore what we kept from each other and from the camera, how our bodies shaped the way we spoke, and how the house itself became a backdrop for our connection. The images hold both strength and ruin, truth and invention. As we built this project together over the course of a decade, we watched our world build itself through an intimate, semi-fictional lens.
