Indoor Voices

Indoor Voices is an ongoing series considering the relationship between my mother and me. By engaging with imagery, we navigate our perception of ourselves in relation to vulnerability, physicality, uncertainty, and responsibility in an effort to build a comprehensive scope of intimacy. The work is a collaborative discourse that discusses intergenerational womanhood through the exploration of familial and female oriented complexities, creating a testimony to our relationship and making our experiences as Jewish women visible. It is impossible to make work about female and Jewish life without also thinking about prior dismissal and lack of representation of these viewpoints; utilizing such erasure is a driving motive to make the work as women responsible for ourselves. As Indoor Voices continues, we are building a testimony to the mundane, to the transformative, to our lives.
